torrance parish church
Notice Board
The following is a matter of great importance for the future of the Church of Scotland.
You will be aware of the controversy surrounding the appointment of a minister for Queen's Cross Church, Aberdeen. The minister concerned has stated openly that he is a practising homosexual and, if inducted, will move into the manse there with his male partner.
The appeal against this is to be heard at the forthcoming General Assembly.
If the Assembly approves the induction by Aberdeen Presbytery, then the consequences for the Church of Scotland may be grave,
and it is imperative that commissioners to the Assembly know the strength of feeling on this matter in the churches
of the land.
In this connection, some people have put together a statement to the General Assembly, and it has been made available
on-line for people to put their names to it.
I am asking you if you will go to http://www.confessingchurch.org.uk/ and, if you agree with the statement, add your name to the list.
It is important that we gather as many names as possible. The petition was only launched yesterday, and already there are 1041 signatories.
If you wish to sign, as I hope you will, the website will guide you about the procedure.
You'll be asked for your name & e-mail address; where it says "affiliation" you would enter "Member (or Elder):
Torrance Parish Church"; and for "City, Region, Country" - "Torrance, Glasgow, Scotland".
